Runners take on the Loch Ness Marathon
Runners take on the Loch Ness Marathon

Scotland’s only running gear exhibition is to be hosted by a major running event at Inverness later this month.

The running expo will be held during the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running on the streets in and around the Highland capital.

Representatives from companies such as Run4It, Brooks and Garmin will all be in attendance at the exhibition, which is open to the public as well as runners taking part in the marathon, 10k or 5k races.

It will be held in the event village of the race at Bught Park over the weekend of September 26-27.

Race director Malcom Sutherland said: “The running expo is a wonderful opportunity for runners and fitness enthusiasts from across Scotland to see some of the best sports products available, and speak directly to specialists.

“This is the only running expo in Scotland and it brings together brand experts who will guide visitors through the latest in running technology, new trends and products.”

He added: “This is not just for event participants – the event village is open to all members of the public and there is no entry fee. We are continually told by participants that the expo is one of the highlights of their race weekend. Not only do they have a chance to meet the experts, but it’s also a chance to meet other runners too.”

The expo is just one of many events taking place as part of the festival of running weekend which will see thousands of runners descend on the Highland capital.

The event village is also home to the race sponsors’ Baxters Food and Drink Fair and offers spectators the opportunity to taste some of the region’s finest food and drink with whisky tasting, cooking demonstrations and food samples.

A traditional pipe band and local acoustic bands will also add to the rousing atmosphere at the event village.

More than 9,000 runners from all over the world are expected to pound the streets of Inverness during the marathon weekend.
