Police are hunting a man in connection with a high speed chase through Inverness and surrounding countryside.

Two men have already been reported to the fiscal in connection with the incident which involved a high performance blue BMW coupe.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, and are searching for a third man.

The vehicle was seen being driven dangerously from the South Kessock area onto the southbound carriageway of the A9 Inverness-Perth road before travelling east on the A96 Inverness-Aberdeen road towards Nairn.

The vehicle was later traced in the Balloch area.

A police spokesman said: “Two men have been reported to the procurator fiscal following a vehicle pursuit in Inverness yesterday afternoon.

“The 26- and 27-year-old men are due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday September 30.”

He added: “As it was lunchtime, these areas were busy at the time of the incident. We have already been contacted by a number of witnesses but if anyone saw this vehicle being driven today and they have not already made contact with us, we would urge them to get in touch.

“We are also looking to trace a man in connection with this incident. He is described as around 6ft 2in in height, of muscular build, clean shaven, with short dark hair and speaks with a Liverpool accent.

“When last seen he was wearing a light blue T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms. He may have information that could assist us with our inquiries.”
