A 37-year-old Inverness man who had an argument with his ex-partner about their relationship smashed her mobile phone on the gear stick of his car.
Now Christopher Taylor, of 42 Redburn Avenue, Culloden, has to pay for a new phone and was given two weeks to replace it before he is sentenced by Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood on October 20.
Taylor appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted a charge of willful damage as he sat in his car in the Eastfield Retail Park on October 2.
The court was told the pair had gone for a coffee to discuss matters. Fiscal Roderick Urquhart said: “She went to the toilet and he began looking through her mobile phone and saw something he didn’t like.
“When she returned they went to the car and he smashed the phone on the gear lever before driving off. When interviewed by police, he apologised for wasting their time.”
Defence solicitor Ken Ferguson said: “He has offered to replace the phone.”
