It is definitely a case of keeping it in the family.
Rod Stewart has spoken of his pride after signing up his daughter to support him on his eagerly-awaited return to the Highland capital.
The rocker has ensured his upcoming gig at Inverness Caledonian Stadium will be a family affair after confirming that his daughter Ruby Stewart’s band The Sisterhood will be the warm-up act.
The concert – on Saturday, June 18 – will be the penultimate gig on his eight-date stadium tour, and one of only two performances in Scotland.
Best known for hits such as Handbags and Gladrags, Maggie May and You’re In My Heart, it will be the 71-year-old’s first performance in Inverness since July 2010.
Announcing that The Sisterhood would share the same stage, Rod said last night: “It will be an absolute pleasure to be going to work with my daughter. Not many dads can say that.”
Promoter Peter Taylor said: “We’re delighted to have The Sisterhood joining us on the Rod Stewart Hits Tour for 2016.
“The fact that Rod’s own daughter is going to be on the bill will only add to the experience and make this tour that little bit more special.
“The tour venues are all across the UK which means fans from up and down the country will get the chance to see Rod live doing what he does best.”
As well as the home of the Caley-Jags, Rod will also take to the stage at Carrow Road in Norwich, Home Park in Plymouth, the Ageas Bowl in Southamption, Cardiff City FC’s home, Hull’s KC Stadium, Rugby Park in Kilmarnock and Carlisle’s Brunton Park.
One of the country’s most successful musicians, Rod has amassed sales of more than 200 million albums and singles worldwide in a career spanning five decades.
He has garnered two inductions into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, won a Grammy, the ASCAP Founders Award for songwriting, and in 2007 was bestowed CBE by the Queen.
His latest album, released last year, is called “Another Country” and is co-produced by Rod and Kevin Savigar.
