A teenage girl who was found dead at a house in the Highland capital was described last night as a “beautiful angel” who was “one in a million”.

Family and friends of Paige Mackay have been left stunned by the 19-year-old’s death.

Police said her body was discovered at a house in the Duncraig Street area of Inverness.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The teenager died just days after returning from the T In The Park music festival at Strathallan in Perthshire.

Yesterday, relatives and pals described her as a “happy, amazing, beautiful girl” who always “knew how to make people smile”.

Younger sister Olivia Mackay posted on social media: “My beautiful sister – fly high my angel – it’s so hard to believe that you’re gone.

“Thinking of you always. Can’t get over it, please come back. I love you so much princess.”

Another sister Ashley Mackay said: “Words can not describe my pain, Paige Mackay I love and miss you so much.

“I still cannot get my head around this, not you my wee Paigee girl, I’m absolutely devastated.

“You were some girl – one in a million. Can’t believe I’m never going to see your beautiful face or hear your voice again.”

One friend said the teenager had returned from T in the Park a few days before her death – although sister Dana Mackay posted on social media that her death had “nothing to do with T”.

Friend Molly Shewan said: “Can’t believe I’m actually writing this, rest in peace Paige Mackay.

“Was only the other day I was in your company when you came back from TITP delighted with yourself that you had went! Shine bright.”

Balnacraig School in Perth, which Miss Mackay had attended, paid tribute to the “beautiful” teen who “lit up every room she was in”.

The school plans to hold a memorial event in honour of its former pupil following the holidays.

Friend Natalie Mackinnon posted: “Some lovely memories shared with you. Rest in peace Paige Mackay. Such a lovely, young and beautiful genuine girl and always a smile on your face.

“Thoughts are with your family and loved ones. Shine bright girly.”

Oceanne Camus wrote: “Such a sad time for everybody that knew Paige and for her family.

“Thoughts go out to them all, rest in peace. Upstairs have gained another beautiful angel.”

A police spokesman said: “At around 11am on July 13, police were alerted to the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman at an address in the Duncraig Street area of Inverness.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious”

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
