NHS Highland has tonight confirmed an additional case of Covid-19 has been identified on Skye.

The health board is investigating the matter and carrying out the relevant procedures to best protect the public.

It is understood the new diagnosis is unrelated to the outbreak at Home Farm Care Home in Portree.

A spokesman said: “NHS Highland is investigating another confirmed positive case of Covid-19 on Skye.

“To reduce the potential for further spread of Covid-19, NHS Highland has contacted all those directly affected, given them the appropriate advice and is in the process of organising testing.”

Skye MSP Kate Forbes informed constituents of the news on social media.

The confirmed case comes following a major outbreak at Home Farm Care Home in Portree where 10 residents have died.

In total, 29 residents and 27 staff have tested positive for the virus at the Skye care home.

Operator HC One has been given a three-week reprieve to maintain progress after an appearance virtually at Inverness Sherrif Court yesterday.

The legal action to determine the status of the operator’s licence came following a Care Inspectorate visit last week which found “serious and significant concerns”.
