A crippled fishing vessel with seven people on board was rescued in a lengthy operation yesterday.
The 59ft long boat reported a total loss of power 45 miles north-west of the Butt of Lewis at around 5.30am.
They were finally towed back into Kinlochbervie about 5pm by the Lochinver lifeboat.
The Stornoway-based coastguard helicopter was initially sent to fly over the fishing boat but was relieved when it was found there was no water ingress and all crew were safe.
The RNLI crew from Lochinver were the dispatched and were initially tasked with taking the boat the Scrabster in Caithness.
However, it was later decided to tow the boat to Kinlochbervie instead.
Meanwhile the Barra lifeboat crew was called to the aid of a fishing vessel which had suffered problems with its nets off Barra Head yesterday afternoon.
The ship was to be towed to Mingulay Bay to make repairs.
Elsewhere a seaman was airlifted off safety support vessel Grampian Contender after suffering a medical problem while north-east of Shetland.
The sailor was collected by the Shetland-based coastguard helicopter and taken to Tingwall Airport before being transferred to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick.
