Stornoway lifeboat tows crew of eight to safety

A Western Isles lifeboat was called out last night to rescue eight people on board a boat which was experiencing engine problems.

Stornoway Lifeboat was launched after a crew member on board the rib, which was stuck in Loch Erisort, raised the alarm with Stornoway Coastguard shortly after 8pm.

A Stornoway Coastguard spokesman said that the lifeboat towed the rib back to Stornoway harbour by 11pm and that no one was hurt.
