An RAF Lossiemouth airman faces punishment from his superiors after assaulting a woman outside a Moray pub.

Robert Fielden shoved Helen Beaven to the ground after she refused him entry to a drinking spot near the base.

The 23-year-old was fined £450 when he appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday, and his lawyer said he faced further sanctions from the RAF.

Fielden admitted assaulting Ms Beaven by pushing her body and “causing her to fall to the ground” on Friday, April 7.

Fiscal Robert Weir said: “The woman was employed by Moray Security as a door supervisor at the time.

“The accused had been drinking at the Beach Bar and went outside at about 11.30pm.

“When he tried to return, he was refused entry to the premises, but said he wanted to get in to say goodbye to his mates.”

The court heard that, when his request was declined, Fielden “became aggressive”.

Mr Weir added: “He put his hands on the woman’s body and pushed her, which caused her to fall to the ground.

“The matter was reported to the police, and officers later traced Fielden and arrested him.”

Representing the accused, solicitor Stephen Carty said: “My client had been drinking alcohol with a number of people in the Beach Bar when he went out of the premises.

“When he wished to get back in, door staff there were not willing to let him do so, such was his state.

“It seems that the complainer stood between the accused and another door steward.

“He accepts that he put his hands up and pushed her away from him, causing her to fall to the ground.”

The lawyer added that Fielden has served with the RAF since 2013, and was being accompanied to court by his commanding officer.

Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov asked whether Fielden was “likely to be punished by the RAF”.

Mr Carty said that his client’s bosses would “almost certainly” take him to task over the matter.

He added: “Some form of action will likely be taken, but they will wait to see what happens in court before any formal decision is made.”

Sheriff Pasportnikov ordered Fielden, whose address was given as RAF Lossiemouth, to pay the £450 fine within the next five months.
