A Moray teenager has risen to new heights with her thriving beauty business.

Charlotte Luxon, 19, from Forres, began her enterprise two years ago after leaving school at the end of her fifth year.

However, the road to success was hard won, with Miss Luxon’s original dream of becoming a sport coach being smashed after she developed hip problems.

She then set her sights on the beauty industry, pursuing her passion by training at the Lauren Gollan Make Up Academy in Edinburgh before being offered the chance to go to New York for a masterclass there.

Miss Luxon went on to train at High Definition Brows in Glasgow, becoming one of their youngest pro stylists in the UK. Her newly acquired skills meant she could corner the market in Forres where she became the only person providing a particular brand of brow treatment at the time.

Now her business has become the go-to place for all things beauty, with her professional skills having proven to be incredibly popular in just a short time – many in the area are calling her the ‘Brow Queen’.

Despite this success, Miss Luxon has had to overcome some obstacles in order to reach where she is now, having struggled for years with dyslexia while at school.

Those hurdles have now made her determined to highlight the opportunities available to students with learning difficulties, encouraging people to be proactive about their chosen career path.

She said: “It doesn’t matter what age you are and even if you have learning difficulties such as dyslexia – you can still achieve a lot as long as you are prepared to work hard. You do need to do something you love and are good at though.”

Miss Luxon now intends on branching out further, saying: “Just now I am building my microblading business up but I also want to continue my professional development with High Definition Brows where I could train others in their techniques. I’m also still doing make-up for weddings and special occasions and I love the creativity that brings. I really do enjoy my work.”
