A sold-out music concert in Lossiemouth should lead to more established bands heading to the region.

Top indie band Toploader played in the town last weekend as headliners on a bill full of young, up-and-coming Moray talent.

Barreling through a set of their top tunes, including Dancing in the Moonlight, they thrilled the crowd and provided the foil for the likes of the Roov, Edgar Road and Gordon James and the Power who played alongside them.

Promoter Andy MacDonald believes that Toploader is the first of many big musical acts to come to Lossiemouth.

He said: “I think a combination of the band enjoying themselves, the people being great and the local musical talent being at such a high standard, Lossiemouth will be attracting some of the greatest bands to take time out of there festivals and busy schedules to perform up here.

“The atmosphere was incredible and everyone looked to be having so much fun.”

The concert was the first put on in Lossiemouth by local promoter Mr MacDonald and he is looking forward to returning back here with some more big names.

He added: “I couldn’t be happier with my first event.

“There’s a lot I learnt from doing my first event in Lossiemouth.

“The local businesses have also been amazing. I’ve build a fantastic relation with John Milne of C & R Taxis who provided the transport for Toploader, and we look forward to my working relationship with him on the upcoming events.

“Mieles Ice cream shop were used as a local box office and provided Toploader with some fine ice cream.”

Mike Mulholland, chairman of Lossiemouth Community Council, said: “Events like this help Lossiemouth greatly.

“It brings people to the region and benefits us as a community as the shops get busier and the town gets busier and hopefully more bands can be attracted here.

“It is something we can look at as a fundraising option for us as if it proves popular we’d look at identifying events like that to use.

“It’s good for Lossie, providing everyone is well behaved, which it seems like they were.”
