A Forres woman was left with a broken nose after being attacked in the town centre following a night out.
Romara Duncan had attended an event at The Eagle bar on Saturday, March 2, with friends and left at 1am before walking home along the High Street.
She was attacked by Olivia Lesniewicz, 19, and Christina Simpson, 20, who it is understood fell out with her at the pub earlier.
The two accused sprinted across the road towards Miss Duncan and assaulted her, dragging her to the ground before punching her to the head and body.
They also told Miss Duncan to “kill herself” and, after 10 seconds, left her lying on the pavement.
Depute fiscal, Alex Swain, told Elgin Sheriff Court that two members of the public rushed to the aid of the stricken woman and flagged down police officers who were patrolling the street at the time.
She said: “The officers saw Miss Duncan with blood all over her face and hands, with a cut to her swollen lip and swollen nose.
“They took her home and, later that morning, she attended at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin where she was advised that a cartilage in her nose was broken.”
Lesniewicz, of Fleurs Crescent in Forres, and Simpson, of Dunphail, pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Duncan to her injury.
Both women apologised through their respective solicitors, and both claimed to have a poor memory of the incident.
Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov fined Lesniewicz, of£650 and gave Simpson 60 hours of unpaid work and a six-month supervision order.
