Findhorn Bay Arts celebrated young people’s participation in an innovative creative project with an event at Elgin’s Out of the Darkness Theatre.
In the Mix is the local organisation’s three-year Cashback for Creativity and We Make Moray funded programme.
The project’s aim is to encourage young people from across Moray who have feelings of isolation perhaps due to living in a rural area to get involved with artistic activities.
As the programme has been running for over two and a half years and funding has now came to an end, Findhorn Bay Arts held the event to bring together some of the 275 participants from over the years and celebrate the project’s success, with over 91% of young people reporting that it boosted their confidence.
The event, held earlier this week, featured a drama and music session and the screening of a film that documented the project. There was also a certificate ceremony for the young people followed by performances and a mini exhibition from two of the participants.
Steve Gasgarth, In The Mix project coordinator said: “We are extremely proud of all the young people who have been part of the In The Mix project for achieving so much.”
“We are heavy-hearted that this phase of the programme and funding has come to an end but we are working hard in the background to fund raise to enable another phase of activity to start next year so we can continue to deliver such positive benefits to so many creative young people across Moray.”
