Moray communities have until the end of this month to apply for  the first round of grants from the Dorenell Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.

Projects that are based in or benefit the communities of Dufftown, Auchindoun, Glenrinnes, Glenlivet, Inveravon and Cabrach can access sums of up to £30,000 provided by EDF Renewables.

Successful applicants will be decided by members of panel keen to see projects and activities that are charitable in nature, community led and that benefit local residents.

They will also be looking for applications that meet themes such as environment, heritage, recreation, tourism, housing and transport, as highlighted in the Dorenell Community Development Plan.

The new fund is being coordinated by Foundation Scotland, an independent grant making charity, which is urging the local communities to get involved and apply before Monday, August 31.

Community fund coordinator Marion McDonald said advice and support is available to anyone thinking of applying.

She added: “This fund provides an excellent opportunity for people to shape the future of their local community.

“Our online advice sessions throughout July were well attended by interested parties from all over the region.

“We were able to offer practical advice about the application process and connect people who were interested in similar project themes.

“We can offer support with applications and answer any questions about the fund.”
