A Moray man was ordered to do community service after he admitted carrying out a drunken attack on a policeman outside a nightclub.
John Mullings became aggressive towards door staff at Buckie’s Kiss venue after he was refused entry for being too drunk, Elgin Sheriff Court heard yesterday.
The 22-year-old launched a tirade of verbal abuse outside the entrance to the Cluny Square nightspot in the early hours of November 2 last year.
Fiscal depute Kevin Corrins told the court: “At 12.40am on November 2, 2014, the accused is refused entry to Kiss nightclub, then proceeds to shout and swear at the door staff.
“He remained at the nightclub doorway, shouting in an aggressive manner.”
Mr Corrins said police arrested Mullings, of 13 St Andrews Court, Buckie, after he failed to heed their warnings to “go on his way”.
As police officers were trying to put him in the van, he lashed out and kicked one of the constables twice on the left thigh.
Sheriff Susan Raeburn ordered jobless Mullings to complete 100 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to a fine.
