A pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car on the outskirts of Lossiemouth.

Bryan Addison was walking along the A941 Elgin to Lossiemouth road when he was hit by a white Audi Q3 just south of the town, near the turn-off for Easter Greens Farm.

The accident happened at about 1.40am on Saturday.

Last night, the 21-year-old’s family in Elgin were too upset to speak about the tragedy.

But messages of love and support flooded in online for the young man, who is believed to be originally from New Pitsligo.

One woman, Heather McLeish, wrote on a social media site: “RIP Bryan, you were a lovely lad who had everything going for you. Thinking of your whole family right now.”

Rachael Horsburgh posted: “Going to miss you Bryan”, to which another friend, Cara Davies, added: “Not going to be the same.”

Councillor Kirsty Gowans, who represents the ward Mr Addison was from, added: “It’s sad at any time, but it’s especially sad at this time of year – you think of the person and the bereaved family.”

Police are trying to piece together Mr Addison’s movements after he left his home in Spey Court at about 6.30pm on Friday and the time of the accident.

A spokesman said: “We are trying to establish Bryan’s movements between leaving his home in Elgin at about 6.30pm on Friday, December 18 and the time of the collision.

“We are appealing to anyone who was with him, saw him, or was in contact with him during that time.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw a male walking on the road.”

The road was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the scene, and reopened at about 8am on Saturday.
