A Moray singing group plans to boost its ranks with some fresh recruits who have recently arrived in the area.
The Kinloss Military Wives Choir, which is comprised of women with spouses at the village’s Army barracks, are appealing for more members.
They have encouraged wives who have recently been brought to Moray through their partner’s Army career to attend an upcoming new members night.
Chorister Jenn French said that the group places more value on its role as a “support network” than as a singing collective.
She said: “The singing is great, but the real point of the choir is to support wives who have recently moved to an area.
“Army life requires moving about a lot, and we feel like we can help people to settle into life here.
“We have a group of people who understand how difficult that can be.”
Mrs French said that the group of approximately 25 singers vary in age from 21 to 70.
She added: “We really like to bring people together, who might not otherwise end up chatting.
“Speaking to our older members, whose husbands were deployed on service decades ago, helps give our young singers some perspective about how much harder that was without the technology we have today.”
The choir will practice a new song during the forthcoming open night, so new arrivals are not at a disadvantage.
Some singers can choose only to attend rehearsals, but those keen to perform publicly will be able to accompany members at concerts within months of joining up.
The singers will stage the new members night at Cumming Hall in Kinloss on Wednesday, August 24, from 7pm to 9pm.
