Two Moray councillors have announced they intend to stand again for election to the chambers.
Gordon McDonald and Sonya Warren have been confirmed as SNP candidates for Buckie.
Mr McDonald could reach more than two decades representing the town after being initially elected to Grampian Regional Council in 1988.
The SNP member intends to push for a reorganisation of the local authority’s management structure if he is returned following May’s vote.
He said: “Everyone knows the problems that the council has under the current Independent and Tory administration.
“The SNP are campaigning to change the direction of the council and take the urgent decisions that are needed to sort the finances and put the vital public services it provides on a sustainable footing.
“We would reorganise the current management structure to find savings and push hard for greater income generation across the council’s departments to help support the critical services that are relied on by folk every day – services such as our harbours, schools and roads.”
The SNP candidates join Conservative Tim Eagle on the ballot paper for the Buckie ward.
Mrs Warren was elected to the authority following a by-election in 2015 and is eager to continue to represent the town.
She added: “I help to run our family business in Buckie, our children have gone to school here and I have always believed strongly in the importance of giving back to your community and getting involved in a practical way to support community events, organisations and individuals.”
