A Moray car show under threat after the council ordered organisers to find a new venue at the last minute has been saved.
Organisers of the Buckie Classic Car Show have been inundated with offers of support from local firms to ensure it goes ahead later this month.
Earlier this week, it emerged the show had been shifted from Linzee Gordon Park as heavy rain has left the ground unusable.
Emergency meetings were held by classic car enthusiasts following the development.
And last night it was revealed the display of more than 200 vintage vehicles will instead go ahead at the town’s March Road industrial estate on August 27.
Organising committee member Steve Thornton said: “We had a big meeting earlier this week and since then a lot of people have done an awful lot of work.
“We were given the option of road closures so we could hold it in The Square but we thought it was unfair on the people of Buckie to put it on at such a late stage there.
“A lot of local businesses came forward to offer their sites as a venue and as parking. The whole town really rallied together.”
Mr Thornton explained organisers were keeping their options open about a venue for next year’s display.
The popular car show, which is traditionally held on the last Sunday in August, regularly attracts crowds of more than 2,000.
Yesterday Buckie councillor Sonya Warren praised the reaction of the community in offering alternative venues for the show which attracts enthusiasts from across the north of Scotland.
She said: “It’s been really great to see the way that everyone has pulled together and worked to find solutions.
“It’s good to know the show is still going to be held because it does pull in a lot of visitors for Buckie.
“The new site should work quite well. It’s got a mix of grass and hard standing so they should be able to get a lot in there.”
