Young talent has taken to the stage in Moray to help stroke victims across the region.

Primary school children were among the acts on show at Buckie High School last night to raise cash for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS).

A packed audience at the venue enthusiastically applauded the performers who showed-off their musical flair.

The Moray’s Got Talent event, which was organised by Radio Buckie, was spearheaded to raise awareness of the conditions affecting young people.

Organiser Leah Rossvoll has had family members who have suffered strokes and volunteers at a support group in Elgin to help the recovery of patients.

She said: “People don’t really think that problems with your chest or your heart can affect people until they get older – but it’s simply not true.

“There needs to be a lot more awareness in the younger generation. In Scotland’s Year of the Young Person, it’s something that needs to be highlighted.

“The charity has done some fantastic work for my family, this is really my way of giving back to them while putting on a fun night.”

Eight young performers ranging from nine to 17 years old took part in the talent show.

Support acts, including a Jacobite battalion who recreated historic fight scenes, also featured on the bill to raise funds to support patients in their recovery.

Mrs Rossvoll added: “The support groups really do fantastic work building the confidence of people as they recover.”

CHSS also runs a support group for people recovering from chest, heart or stroke conditions in the Forres area.
