Youngsters made the most of the Easter weekend in Elgin by clowning around during a family fun day in the town.
Bubbles the Clown entertained children on the centre’s historic Plainstones with some over-the-top antics.
Elgin sisters Debbie and Becky Vaccaro, aged seven and nine respectively, giggled as the face-painted joker performed juggling tricks and twisted colourful balloons into animal shapes.
The Easter-themed day of activity was organised by the Elgin Business Improvement District (Bid) group as a way of bringing more people into the town.
The event roared into life on Saturday with a performance from the Elgin and District Pipe Band.
For two local youngsters, the occasion was a special one because it was their first time playing publicly as part of the group.
Nine-year-old Kenzie Stephen and his 12-year-old pal, Amy Young, overcame any stage fright to help the band put on a rousing show.
Kenzie’s mum, Heather Stephen, spoke of her pride as she watched the Greenwards Primary School pupil achieve his dream.
She said: “He started practising the chanter when he was six and was delighted when he got a set of bagpipes for his eighth birthday.
“He has practised every day, so getting out there with the band on the fun day was the result of years of hard work.
“Kenzie was nervous in the morning while getting dressed for it, but all the older members encouraged him and he was over the moon afterwards.”
Meanwhile, dozens of pre-school children enjoyed sessions with the Elgin-based Mini Magic group.
Across the day, 40 children took part in the interactive classes.
Mini Magic’s Emma McIntosh said: “We usually help nursery-aged children build their confidence with performing arts magic sessions.
“But the event in Elgin was all about fun, and all of the youngsters we had along really enjoyed it.”
There was also a hunt for Easter eggs and a course for children to play crazy golf on was set up.
The Elgin Bid group’s next town centre bash is less than a fortnight away.
