A Moray man has been charged following a series of thefts in the region during the last week.
Officers have confirmed items, including power tools, a torch and a lawnmower, have been taken from commercial and residential premises.
Yesterday, 34-year-old Liam Cameron appeared at the town’s sheriff court yesterday in connection with the break-ins.
Cameron faces two charges of theft, one charge of theft by housebreaking, one of attempted theft by housebreaking and a further two accusations of being in a place with the intent to commit theft.
The Elgin resident made no plea yesterday and was remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, Constable Rosanagh Davison encouraged locals to remain vigilant to potential thieves.
She said: “We continue to urge residents to report any suspicious activity they see in their neighbourhood.
“We are also urging the public to ensure their homes, vehicles and any outbuildings are always locked and secure.
“Any valuables should be stored out of sight to prevent offering a temptation for opportunistic thieves.”
