Stormtroopers, superheroes and Sith Lords are descending on Moray this weekend for a very special event.

The first ever Elgin Comic Con will be hosted in the town hall on Sunday, with guests appearing from all over Britain.

Game of Thrones star Miltos Yerolemou is the main attraction, with the actor best known for his role as Syrio Forel in the mega-hit TV series.

He is also known as the master of the water dance, a famous dance featured prominently in the show, and he will be running a special masterclass at the event.

Other expected guests include former DC and Marvel comic book writer Gary Erskine, Star Wars actor Frazer Diamond and Irish comedian Des O’Gorman.

One of the organisers Andy Mackenzie is looking forward to the event, and has promised some “super” surprises.

“We’ve got professional cosplay guys arriving who are very good at their job,” he said. “Iron Man will be in attendance, along with a few other friends.

“Our special guests have already proven to be a huge draw as the event has sold out, and we’re looking forward to it.”

In addition to the cosplayers, there will also be comic book workshops where young artists can test out their skills and be critiqued by professional artists.

Gill Neill, manager of Elgin’s business improvement district, has backed the event as an extra attraction to get youngsters into the town from outside the region.

She said: “We’re really excited to be supporting Moray’s first-ever comic book convention. There’s been a real buzz about it since we first announced it and we’re sure it’ll bring lots of people to Elgin.”
