Concerns about changes to maternity procedures in Moray have been reinforced to NHS Grampian.
Elective caesarean sections have been withdrawn from Dr Gray’s Hospital currently due to staff shortages.
NHS Grampian has stressed the move is temporary while more sustainable staffing models are drawn up.
Yesterday Moray MP Douglas Ross said he was reassured the health authority was doing everything in its power to reinstate the service following a meeting with chief executive Amanda Croft.
He added: “I reiterated the added stress and worry travelling to Aberdeen puts on expectant mums as they head into surgery for a caesarean and how we must see this situation resolved as quickly as possible.”
