Bus services in Moray have been extended to include a new £12million sports complex.

Vehicles will begin stopping at the new Moray Sports Centre in the south of Elgin from next month.

Stagecoach has extended its 33A and 33C routes, which run to the town’s bus station and Lossiemouth, to include the facility, which opened its doors in July.

The centre was included as part of a masterplan for a huge housing development comprising 2,500 homes with a primary school also currently under construction next to the complex, which includes a sports hall, gym and restaurant.

David Liston, managing director for Stagecoach North Scotland said: “We are delighted to be welcoming this fantastic new facility to our bus network in Elgin from the end of October.

“We are always looking for ways to make our bus services even more attractive in Moray and will be looking forward to welcoming new customers on board who are visiting the sports centre.”

Gail Cleaver, operations manager at Moray Sports Centre said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Stagecoach in bringing this service to our centre.

“Since opening we have seen a great number of Moray residents using our facility and the route extension will only add to this.”

The changes to the existing timetables will come into effect from Monday, October 28.
