A member of a north-east choir has hit the right note with her local minister after the pair walked down the aisle together in their own church.

Reverend David Locke has conducted numerous weddings for members of the Banff and King Edward Parish congregations during his four years as a minister in the coastal community.

But Rev Locke found himself at the centre of a wedding ceremony in a very different capacity this summer. And he happily changed roles to that of the groom for the day to marry his bride Marie Millar.

Miss Millar, a teacher at Banff Primary school, is a member of the church choir and the Deveron Singers after joining the congregation two years ago.

Last night Rev Locke said: “I felt the same as anyone getting married – it was a great day for everyone involved.

“We thoroughly enjoyed it and it was great to get married in our own church.”

The wedding service was conducted by Rev Stuart Duff from the Elgin High Church of Scotland.

Following the ceremony on July 9, the couple received guests for a catered afternoon tea in their church hall which was hung with decorations made by pupils of local primary schools.

The new Rev and Mrs Locke cut their cake before continuing the celebrations with family and friends at the Fife Lodge Hotel in Banff.
