A north-east golfer has been honoured by his friends to mark his 95th birthday.
Joe Moorhouse has been a member of Duff House Royal Golf Club for around 50 years and enjoys two rounds at the Banff course every week.
The former builder was presented was a special bench before playing a game at the weekend.
Mr Moorhouse said he was “surprised” that his friends had gone to such great lengths to help him mark the milestone.
He added: “I got a real surprise when I went down on Saturday and they presented me with this bench.
“I am lucky I have got three really good pals and play every weekend.
“I would like to acknowledge that they did it. I didn’t know it was happening and I was left speechless.”
Mr Moorhouse, who lives with his daughter in Banff, has made it clear he will carry on playing golf for the foreseeable future.
He said: “I really enjoy playing and I will go until I am not able to do it.
“I was builder and it was really hard work, but I stopped when I was 65 so I have been retired for 30 years.
“I am surely the oldest player at the club. I am certainly the oldest playing member.
“I enjoy the game because it keeps me young and I never sit about the house.
“I have not been ill much and I would say that is down to the golf, because I am pretty fit for my age.”
Mr Moorhouse plays off a 24 handicap and his golfing partner Brian Watson paid his own tribute to his friend.
He said: “He is physically very fit, although he sometimes gets his golfing partners’ names mixed up from time to time.
A spokesman from Duff House Royal Golf Club added: “Joe Moorhouse was presented with one of the new benches as a gift from his golfing pals shortly before their weekly round.
“The game really is played by all ages. Many birthday wishes from all at Duff House Royal.”
