A pensioner who was badly injured in a north-east crash has died three weeks after the accident.

Ann Moore was behind the wheel of her white Morris Minor when it collided with a silver Renault van on the A952 Mintlaw to Fraserburgh road.

The 69-year-old from the Lonmay area was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in an air ambulance following the incident at 8am on Tuesday July 3.

Yesterday police confirmed that, almost three weeks on, Mrs Moore had succumbed to her injuries and had died in hospital.

Sergeant Stuart Lawrence from the north-east road policing unit made a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward yesterday.

He said: “First and foremost our thoughts at this time go out to Ann’s family and friends.

“I would ask anyone with information who hasn’t yet come forward to contact Police Scotland on 101.”

Mrs Moore’s loved ones were too upset to speak at the family home near Lonmay yesterday.

Following the crash, the road was closed for about two hours in both directions.

Police confirmed the classic car and the van were the only vehicles involved.

A force spokeswoman said: “We got a call at about 8am and the road was reopened at around 9.50am.

Three ambulances as well as an air ambulance were called to the scene.

At the time of the incident an ambulance spokesman confirmed details of the operation.

He said: “We received a call at 7.55am to attend a road traffic collision on the A952 between Mintlaw and Fraserburgh.

“We dispatched three ambulances and our Helimed air ambulance to the scene. One female patient in her 60s was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
