Aden-een 2016.

Hundreds of youngsters are preparing to play their own part in a major north-east event.

The Aden-een Fireworks Parade is being held at Aden Country Park near Mintlaw next month, with up to 8,000 people expected to attend.

As well as the fireworks display, there is a mile long walk through the park’s woods.

The marked out route will provide the base for the around 500 children who will be performing in the clearings. Walkers will also be able to spot art installations along the way.

Members of more than 18 music, drama and dance groups from Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Mintlaw and the surrounding area have been busy working on their routines.

Youth group Circus Modo, which teaches circus tricks from its base in Peterhead, have been helping children prepare for the event.

Creative director Martin Danziger said the event is a chance for young people to showcase the skills they have learned.

He said seeing how the children rise to the occasion is an exciting experience.

Mr Danziger said: “I suppose we are now in a position where we have people who have done it before, but every year we have got people who have never done it.

“Obviously this is a great calling card for us, but it really changes the perception of young people.

“For an audience of that size to turn up and celebrate their achievements is a really big.

“It makes the young people feel like part of the community.

“The event is great, but seeing the change that it brings about in these kids is the best thing.”

Circus Modo is also appealing for volunteers to come forward and help the young performers on the night.

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to call Modo on 01779 600020.

Aden-een, which is sponsored by oil giant Shell, is being held at Aden Country Park on November 2 at 6.30pm.
