Pupils at a north-east school could be shut out for the rest of the week after being sent home early on Monday.
Gartly School, near Huntly, was forced to close its doors at 1.15pm after the heating failed.
Parents were contacted and buses arranged to collect pupils and take them home.
Later in the day it became clear there was no quick fix to the problem, and Aberdeenshire Council said the pupils would be accommodated by Kennethmont School while the 44-pupil school remained closed.
The council said the arrangement would likely be in place for the rest of the week.
A spokesman for the school said: “School bus pupils will be picked up at the usual time and taken to Kennethmont School.
“They will be picked up from Kennethmont School at 3pm but may be a few minutes later at the end of the day.
“For everyone else, meet on Park Lane at the cul-de-sac where we will get a Shearer’s minibus to Kennethmont School.
“Children will return to Gartly at the usual time at the end of the day.
“There will be no nursery session on Tuesday and this is likely to be the case for the rest of the week.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and are grateful to Kennethmont School for being so accommodating.”
