A north-east lifeboat has been called out after a man was seen in the sea near Fraserburgh.

Rescue teams were called out this afternoon following reports someone was in the water.

The port’s lifeboat and volunteer Coastguard crews from Fraserburgh and Peterhead responded after the alarm was raised.

A Coastguard spokesman said: “We had a call at 1.40pm from a member of the public saying they had seen someone in the water.

“The person is out of the water now and the lifeboat and Coastguard teams are both in attendance.

“The male is being reported as being with the police.”
