A famous Aberdeenshire attraction will host a range of events to draw attention to the uncertain future of the salmon.
The Year of the Salmon initiative has been organised to spur research to ensure the survival of the fish.
Macduff Marine Aquarium is joining up with the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Trust this summer to host two events celebrating the creatures.
The lowest levels of catches ever reported in Scotland took place last year, and some people are worried for the species’ future.
To mark the year-long campaign the partnerships are hosting two events with the first being a “super salmon fun day” on Wednesday, July 10.
There will be talks on salmon biology, the opportunity to chat to fish experts, discover what lives in the Deveron and a salmon dissection demonstration.
Another event will be held at the aquarium on Thursday, September 26, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
It will feature talks about the past, present and future of salmon fishing and rare footage of salmon behaviours will be shown.
