Police have re-issued an appeal to help trace a missing 35-year-old man as concern for his welfare increases.

Michael Slater from the Macduff area was last seen in the city centre of Aberdeen on Huntly Street around 6pm on Tuesday.

It is now believed he could be in the Inverness area.

Known for previously adopting aliases, Mr Slater has also gone by the names of Iain Barron and James Barron.

Police have release CCTV images of him in Aberdeen in the hope someone recognises him.

Inspector Craig Feroz said: “We remain concerned for Michael’s welfare and efforts are ongoing to trace him safe and well.

“We believe Michael may have travelled to the Inverness area, possibly by public transport. Think back – have you seen him on a train or a bus in the last two days?

“If you believe you have seen Michael, or have any information on his whereabouts that could assist us, please get in touch with police.

“I would also like to appeal to Michael directly to please contact officers to let us know that he is safe and well.”

He is described as white, around 6ft 2in with short black hair and thick stubble.

He was last seen wearing a black leather biker-style jacket, a grey hoodie, black tracksuit bottoms with two white stripes down the side and a black beanie hat with a grey stripe around the edge, carrying a dark bag.

Contact police on 101 and quote incident number 0912 of 21 January.
