10-year-old Eden Allan is taking on a 10,000 steps a day challenge for The Leanne Fund.

A north-east 10-year-old has challenged herself to undertake 10,000 steps a day to raise funds for a charity close to her heart.

Eden Allan from Aberchirder had planned several different events this year to support the Leanne Fund, which offers aid to people with Cystic Fibrosis across Grampian and the Highlands and Islands.

Due to Covid-19 guidelines, those events have been cancelled or re-arranged, but the determined youngster has decided that won’t prevent her raising funds for the charity from her own home.

Eden said: “I had wanted to do a few different events in 2020 to raise money for The Leanne Fund because they help me and other people with cystic fibrosis so much.

“Now that the guidelines say I can’t leave my house or garden I wanted to something to make sure I stay active.

“I have challenged myself to do 10,000 steps or 60 minutes of activity every day I am in lockdown.

“I will do this on the treadmill, on the trampoline and around the house and garden.”

She records her activity on her FitBit and has set herself a fundraising target of £200.

Chrisetta Mitchell, from The Leanne Fund, said: “We are so grateful to Eden for doing this amazing challenge.

“She really is in an inspiration and the funds she raises will go directly to help those affected by cystic fibrosis.”
