Police Scotland has renewed its appeal to members of the public to check their sheds and outbuildings as the search for missing 20-year-old Shaun Ritchie continues into a ninth day.

More than 200 specialist search trained officers from across Scotland have been involved in the search for Shaun along with 27 dogs.

Inspector Alan Brown of the Community Policing Team based in Fraserburgh said: “We have carried out extensive searches in open areas, woodland and waterways in a bid to trace Shaun and we are continuing today with assistance from search dogs and specialist search officers.

“Shaun was last seen after he had been for a night out on Friday, October 31, and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his wellbeing. It is possible that he tried to seek shelter and we would again appeal to members of the public to check their sheds and outbuildings.

“We would ask that anyone who has any piece of information in relation to Shaun’s whereabouts to contact Police Scotland on 101.”

Divisional officers have also been assisted by the Police Scotland helicopter, the Police Scotland Mountain Rescue Team, the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Team, the Joint Police and Braemar Mountain Rescue Team along with the Aberdeen, Tayside and RAF Kinloss Mountain Rescue Teams and the Dive and Marine Unit.

Support has also been welcomed from almost 40 members of Shaun’s family and friends on a daily basis.

The last known sighting of Shaun was in the area between Strichen and the A98 Fraserburgh to Banff Road.
