A north-east village is gearing up to host its 24th annual celebration of traditional music and song.
The annual Ugie Folk Festival attracts hundreds of people to the north-east for a programme of live acts.
This year’s event, which takes place from Friday, July 24, until Sunday, July 26, will feature a mix of performances from members of the folk club as well as special guests.
Organisers have promised the festivities will get off to a “rollicking start” when Longside Football Social Club hosts a night of folk music from the club and friends at 8pm.
The fun continues in Mintlaw’s Aden Country Park the next day at 1.30pm, where the crowds will enjoy an open-air concert by the Ugie Folk Club.
A second, grand concert will take place later in the evening at Maud’s village hall, from 7.30pm, starring headline acts Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies.
A spokesman for the festival said: “Jez and the Bad Pennies are sure to put on a cracking concert.
“He is in constant demand at festivals and folk clubs across the country and throughout the world.”
Also performing at Maud will be accordion player Norman English and festival regulars, the Ugie Wall of Sound.
The weekend will draw to a close with the original song-writing competition at 11am on Sunday, followed by a wind-down session from 2pm. Both events will be held at the football social club.
