Peterhead homes without power and roads flooded after storms hit

There are delays on two busy north-east commuter roads this morning as weather conditions worsen.

Heavy rain has caused standing water on the A90 Fraserburgh to Peterhead road and the A952 Fraserburgh to Toll of Birness route.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads.

In Peterhead, some areas have been affected by a powercut SSE announced earlier today.

All power supplies were restored by midday, SSE announced on Twitter.

The forecast for this afternoon in the area is continued rain and 14mph winds.

Transport Scotland figures show that every day 13,000 vehicles travel on the three-mile stretch of A90 from Ellon to Toll of Birness.

Some then branch off towards Mintlaw and Fraserburgh on the A952, but between 8,000 and 9,000 vehicles use the road to Peterhead.
