Police have charged a dozen motorists and seized a vehicle as part of a crackdown on antisocial driving in the north-east.
The operation was conducted in the Banff, Macduff and Aberchirder areas on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7.
One driver was charged with careless driving, having bald tyres and failing to report an accident. Another will also be reported to the procurator fiscal for having no insurance.
One uninsured vehicle was seized by officers and a further nine drivers were charge with minor lighting offences. Another was charged for “excessive noise”.
Last night Constable Graeme Smith, who led the operation, said: “This was an intelligence-led operation acting on information and complaints received directly from members of the public.
“We deployed patrols in areas that are popular with drivers and monitored their behaviour. During the operation a number of vehicle defects were identified and appropriately dealt with, as well as conditional offers issued in relation to noise.”
Constable Smith said officers would continue to tackle antisocial driving.
