A north-east animal sanctuary has appealed for help in keeping its legion of furry felines fed over the winter.
Willows Animal Sanctuary, near Fraserburgh, homes dozens of animals who would otherwise face being put down because their owners have either given up on them or can no longer provide a place to live.
Its work in recent years has generated widespread praise for the charity and even helped to recruit high-profile support from Queen front-man Paul Rodgers who has donated personal items to raise much-needed funds for the charity.
Sandi Thom, who rose to fame with 2006 hit I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker, also played an intimate gig at the charity’s base at Lambhill.
Now, however, in order to provide sufficient resources for the 60-plus cats who are homed at the facility, Willows has asked the public to give whatever they can to keep the cats nourished.
A spokeswoman for the charity said: “We have over 60 cats and our food bill is often through the roof.
“Donating food means we can allocate that money towards veterinary fees or other essential running costs.”
Anyone who can spare a treat or tin of cat food for the creatures has been invited to visit the sanctuary.

The cats at Willows are a popular visitor attraction in their own right.
Earlier this year, following severe winter flooding which damaged the buildings at the sanctuary, volunteers unveiled a new-look “cat hotel” for its guests.
This provides visitors with a dedicated space to interact and play with the rescued moggies.
Supporting its appeal, a Christmas fundraiser has also been scheduled for later this month.
On November 26, Willows will be transformed into Santa’s grotto, with local children participating in a nativity play.
