The organisers of a charity walk which is returning after a hiatus to raise cash for a north-east hospital have appealed for entrants.
Fraserburgh’s Moonlight Prowl announced its return earlier this year by inviting families across Aberdeenshire to sign up to the charity walk through the town on June 3.
The distinctive event – which runs through the night and has both a three mile and six mile course – has raised more than £750,000 for cancer research and treatment since it was launched 11 years ago.
The event took a break last year but now it is back and is being held in an effort to boost the coffers of the Baird Family Hospital and the Anchor Centre project – a £150million facility at Aberdeen’s Foresterhill Health Campus.
Due to open in 2020, the project is creating two new buildings to improve the provision of clinical care in the north-east.
There is now just over a week left to register for this year’s Moonlight Prowl before the deadline on Sunday, May 14.
A spokeswoman for the event said: “Numbers taking part in this year’s event are rising quickly. Remember The Prowl is not a race, it’s open to all ages and all abilities. Make sure you secure your space before registration closes.”
When the walk was first announced earlier this year, committee member Jacqueline Watt said: “The event not only raises the awareness of cancer, but the challenge encourages participants to improve their health and fitness.”
She added that the event is often the “first step” to a more healthy and active lifestyle.
