Brave volunteers who risk their own lives to save others at sea are organising a fundraiser to ensure they can continue their vital work.

The Fraserburgh Lifeboat Station dinner and dance will be held later this year in support of the RNLI.

The evening will include a three-course meal as well as live music from local band Howlin Gale .

A spokesman for the crew of the Trent-class lifeboat Willie and May Gall said: “Tickets are now available for the dinner and dance from Fraserburgh lifeboat station.

“It’s an evening to look forward to, with a three-course meal, live music, some fantastic raffles and auction items, all in support of the life-saving work of the Fraserburgh RNLI branch.”

Fraserburgh’s lifeboat volunteers were called into action on Sunday when a north-east trawler began taking on water in the North Sea. The crew successfully towed the Ocean Pioneer back to port.

Last month coxswain Victor Sutherland and his crew hosted the annual lifeboat station open day at their Shore Street premises.

Dozens of families gathered to explore the vessel and enjoy a barbecue laid on by volunteers. A host of stalls including hook-a-duck and face painting were on offer to raise cash for the station.

The dinner and dance will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 7pm at the Tufted Duck hotel in nearby St Combs.

Tickets are already on sale priced £40. To reserve a ticket or for more information contact fraserburgh@rnli.org.uk or call 01346 515 162
