Hardy swimmers are being asked to brave the winter chill to take part in the 10th anniversary of an annual lifeboat challenge.
The Fraserburgh Lifeboat Boxing Day swim asks fundraisers to cross Fraserburgh Harbour to help support the work of the crew.
And this year, the event will celebrate its 10th anniversary when it is hoped a bumper crowd will take on the challenge.
Since it was started nine years ago, more than £60,000 has been raised.
Victor Sutherland, the local lifeboat’s coxswain, said the team relied on the goodwill of people to get involved with their fundraising efforts.
He added: “It is always great to see everyone on the quay-side on Boxing Day, lending their support to our event.
“We have only had to cancel the event once due to work commitments, a few years ago, and people still showed up.
“It has become a bit of an annual tradition in the town and one we rely on to help us get funds for equipment.”
Last year saw 24 people take part in the swim across the harbour from the lifeboat, with people travelling from around the country.
Mr Sutherland said: “I think people understand the work we do here and how important it is, and we are always glad for their support.
“On Boxing Day, we’ll take people in groups of two or three to the other side of the basin and let them jump in to swim across to the stairs at the lifeboat berth.
“Temperatures can be as low as six degrees, anyone can take part and it would be great to see as many people as possible with it being the 10th event we’ve done.
“We’ve raised thousands previously and it would be fantastic to raise £10,000 at the 10th anniversary.
“There are 15 people signed up already, which is a great start, and we would love people to get in touch and take part.”
