Police continue to search for a missing Fraserburgh man almost two weeks after he was disappeared.

Concerns was first raised about the whereabouts of William Ritchie by West Road neighbours on January 14 after he had not been seen at his home.

His disappearance has sparked a major search operation involving specialist police teams, the local coastguard and the RNLI.

Now police have revealed that “numerous people” have contacted officers to confirm they saw the 90-year-old, known as Bill, in the days following New Year.

Inspector Kevin Goldie, who is leading searches to trace Mr Ritchie, said: “This information has been crucial to help us build a picture of Bill’s daily routine and to identify places he was known to walk to.

“Today I appeal once again to anyone who saw Bill in the couple of weeks leading up to him being reported missing to please get in touch.

“We are still receiving extremely useful sightings of him and helpful information about places he had walked to in the past.

“Our focus this week very much remains on continuing the search for Bill in the hope we can find him.”

Efforts to trace the pensioner continued yesterday around the Philorth and Peathill areas where the keen walker is known to frequent.

His last confirmed sighting is believed to have been in the town’s Asda supermarket on December 21.

Mr Ritchie is described as being around 5ft 7in, of a slim build, with short grey hair.

It is not known what he is wearing when he went missing, however he usually wears a three-quarter length black jacket or a waterproof jacket with the hood up, and a flat cap hat.
