Eight men have gone on trial at the High Court in Glasgow accused of murdering a north east dad using an arsenal of weaponry.
The accused are said to have beaten Gary Clampett to death with an array of bladed and blunt implements.
They are said to have struck the 39-year-old with knives, a machete, a sword, a chain, a hammer, a crowbar and a wrench.
John Henderson 47, Gary Martin 37, Joseph Martin 40, Thomas Martin 45, David Graham, 46, Barry Martin, 32, James Connor, 52, and Dean Leech, 25, are also said to have hit Mr Clampett with a stick, bats, golf clubs, poles and a metal bat.
The attack is said to have taken place at a house in Fraserburgh’s Fernie Place on June 18 last year.
The eight appeared in the dock at the High Court to deny the allegations. Jurors are now expected to hear three weeks of evidence.
Mr Clampett was a local handyman and lived in Fraserburgh with wife Sharon, whom he had married in the summer of 2016.
The couple had become the parents of a baby girl shortly before his death.
Police officers were called to the house in 2017 after reports of a disturbance and found Mr Clampett seriously injured. Medical teams were unable to save his life.
Detectives sealed-off the area in the wake of the incident as a major investigation was launched.
Door-to-door inquiries took place while forensic officers spent hours examining the property in which he’d been found.
The trial, before Lord Beckett, continues.
