Police Scotland have confirmed the identity of a man found dead near a school in Fraserburgh.
A passerby discovered the dead body in a lane near Lochpots Primary School on Sunday night and police have now confirmed the man was local 72-year-old William Fraser.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the man who was found deceased in the Robertson Road area of Fraserburgh on Sunday 1 March 2015, was local man, 72-year-old William Fraser.”
After finding the body on Sunday and dialling 999 local labourer Marc Hornal made a desperate attempt to revive Mr Fraser but to no avail.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing into Mr Fraser’s death, however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
