A £150,000 lottery grant will ensure the Blue Toon turns green for the community.
Local development group, Peterhead Projects, has secured the cash from the Big Lottery Fund to finance a town-wide green spaces scheme.
The three-year community initiative presents an opportunity for local residents to work together to improve open spaces such as the Collieburn area.
Ken Duncan, the development boss, said: “There is a real desire among local residents, and groups and Aberdeenshire Council to develop and harness the potential of these areas.
“The funding will enable the appointment of a community green spaces officer to co-ordinate activities which encourage people of all ages, gender and abilities to participate in and impact positively on their health and well being.”
The projects, which will be funded by the £145,484 grant, include working with volunteers to design and plant beds around the town to increase biodiversity.
Elsewhere, the organisation will liaise with local art groups to promote a slew of creative outdoor activities.
Big Lottery Fund Scotland chair, Maureen McGinn, said: “I am delighted Peterhead Projects has been successful in securing a grant.
