A derelict north-east building has been given a £1.5million new lease of life as social housing.
The Caley Building, Harbour Street, Peterhead, has been redeveloped into 15 one bedroom flats with space for up to 30 people.
Langstane Housing Association Ltd started the £1.564m project in May 2016 to create affordable housing for the upper three floors of the building.
Historic Environment Scotland (HES) was heavily involved in the development of the B-listed building which is thought to have been built in 1805.
Funding to assist with the project of £250,000 was granted by HES, with a further £108,000 provided by Aberdeenshire Council and £776,910 from the Scottish Government.
Helen Gauld, chief executive of Langstane, said: “We are delighted to see the Caley Fisheries development in Peterhead officially open.
“The Caley building had been in a derelict condition, having lain empty for a number of years and was on the buildings at risk register for over 20 years.
“The build which has taken place on this historic site has provided good quality affordable housing that has met the needs of local people in Peterhead.”
Each flat will be available to rent for £322 a month.
The ground floor is being used for commercial purposes.
The official opening will take place on July 12 by Kevin Stewart, minister for local government and housing.
Councillor Anne Allan said: “The building was an old warehouse and stood empty for a long time except for commercial premises.
“It has been a huge job to rebuild it and make it into social housing.
“In Peterhead we have a long waiting list of people for single bedroom houses and these 15 flats will go a long way to help us fill this gap.
“It’s a fantastic project and Langstane have done very well with it.”
