Design plans for how Peterhead Sheriff Court will look
Work will soon be complete on the million-pound revamp of Peterhead Sheriff Court.
The building has been covered in scaffolding since early 2018 when it was discovered the exterior cladding had shifted and the roof of the building had developed leaks.
Scaffolding was erected as a precaution ahead of a £1 million refurbishment to replace the roof and upgrade the facade at the Peterhead Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court.
Work was expected to take up to nine months, and it has now been confirmed the project is on schedule.
Chief executive of the Scottish Courts Service Eric McQueen has written to Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Stewart Stevenson to advise the work will be finished on October 17.
Mr Stevenson said he is pleased the “end is now in sight”.
He said: “Local residents have been concerned at the length of time taken for these works, albeit there is an understanding the works are of an essential nature.
“With a previous deadline for completion of the works having passed, I’m pleased it now looks like completion is imminent and we can see an end to the scaffolding covering one of the Peterhead’s main town centre landmark buildings.”
