Armed police were called out to help settle a disturbance in Peterhead today.
Alarge cordon was set up around the north-east fishing village’s Meethill Place due to a reported disturbance.
Armed officers were sent to the area to help bring the incident to a “swift and safe conclusion”.
They said there was no threat to the wider public.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland officers are currently attending an ongoing disturbance at an address in Meethill Place, Peterhead. The road has been closed as a result.
“Firearms officers are assisting local policing units in managing this incident.
“The situation is contained and there is no threat to the wider public. Officers are involved in negotiations to bring the situation to a swift and safe conclusion.”
Firefighters and ambulance crews were also in attendance.
