Nine new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the Highlands.
Scotland’s total has reached 719 – an increase of 135 in the past 24 hours.
There are now 22 people with confirmed Covid-19 in the north of Scotland, 24 in Shetland and 29 in the Grampian area.
Twenty-two people have died so far after testing positive in Scotland.
At a press briefing in Edinburgh today, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said as of last night there are 51 patients with Covid-19 or suspected Covid-19 in intensive care units across the country.
She said: “It is now clear we are seeing a rapid rise in coronavirus cases in Scotland and we have sustained evidence of community transmissions.
“I want to make clear to people across Scotland it is vitally important that these unprecedented measures we are asking people to comply with are complied with.”
